The People's Snob discusses the arts in Richmond, Virginia, with an emphasis on classical music, and offers musings on arts and culture in general.
The People's Snob believes that art can be appreciated by anyone, even in forms commonly thought to be esoteric. Unlike the average snob who acquires extensive knowledge about something (wine, films, heirloom vegetables) but often ends up building a wall of information between himself and others, the People's Snob wants to break down walls. She just inexplicably happens to really care about orchestral and chamber music.
I am a freelance writer and amateur cellist in Richmond, Virginia. I'm the classical music writer for the Richmond Times-Dispatch; I also write occasional arts-related articles for it. I was a 2010 Fellow at the NEA Arts Journalism Institute in Classical Music and Opera.
